Blizzard explains its banning policy for World of Warcraft Classic
It has been a month since the release of World of Warcraft Classic and it proved to be a resounding success for Blizzard Entertainment. The remastered base edition of World of Warcraft is popular to the point where players must queue up to face certain bosses.

A large number of players have already reached the level cap but as expected the game’s release isn’t without its issues. Some of the players are currently exploiting Blizzard’s layering technology that creates versions of the same area on a server to manage the player population. However, many players are using this to create endless spawns in certain dungeons for quick leveling in World of Warcraft Classic.

On the WoW Classic forums (via WoWhead), Blizzard says “we’ve recently become aware of a bug that could be exploited to allow instanced encounters to be completed repeatedly. We have developed a fix for the issue, and we are in the process of deploying it worldwide.” It also adds that “as soon as possible, we will identify those who knowingly abused this bug in exploitative manner. We will then take appropriate punitive measures,” reminding the community that it defines cheating in-game as “methods not expressly authorised by Blizzard, influencing and/or facilitating the gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods.” By the way, you can buy safe wow classic gold from, where you can enjoy a 3% discount by using the code “5MMO”.

"No reasonable person would expect that this behaviour was intended, and the players involved had to go out of their way to cause it. It’s obviously unintended, it’s obviously a glitch, and the people who abused it were obviously exploiting said glitch for their own benefit. That’s pretty open and shut." The debate around "intent" could suck us into a whole conversation around legal philosophy, but Blizzard's stance on the issue makes sense from a developer's perspective, and also serves as a clear guide for those who may have been thinking about exploiting certain aspects of WoW Classic's antiquities.

The debate around this topic could go deep as everyone will have their own take of this. But a perma-ban seems a bit harsh for exploiting a system for loot and XP. There needs to be a better solution to the problem.
